KIIS-FM's late night personality Dave Styles started out his career at a young age. In the 7th grade he used to record his own weekly countdown using his home stereo and a microphone, then sold copies of the tapes to kids at school. (Isn't that illegal?) We hope to find some of those tapes to embarrass the crap out of him. At age 13 he began working as a mobile DJ for parties, weddings, and special events. He always knew he wanted to do radio, and figured this may be a good place to start. It was there that he learned the way around a microphone and fell in love with entertaining and being on-stage.
Dave was born in Seattle, Washington, then moved to the West Derby district of Liverpool, England, where he spent a majority of his youth. When Dave returned to Seattle, his on-air days began, doing college radio at KGRG and KNHC (C-89fm). After working at stations in Pullman, Portland and Seattle, Dave got a huge break at the most prestigious radio station in the country....KIIS-FM. "They didn't have to ask me twice" Dave says, as he remembers flying down for a "try-out" shift, which led to a full-time position over the airwaves of Los Angeles.
Dave Styles is on KIIS-FM weeknights from 1am to 5am, right before Ryan Seacrest. He knows that some people working the late-night graveyard-shift rely on him to keep them awake and entertained, so he tries to keep you informed and in-the-loop-with info on your favorite artists and celebs, as well as "goings-on" around SoCal.
Along from the listeners in the Los Angeles area, Dave frequently gets calls and emails from people all over the world such as London, Australia, and Germany, who listen online at www.kiisfm.com. "It's amazing how many people listen to KIIS-FM worldwide. While it's the middle of the night here in LA, its daytime in other countries, and the people who listen online are very vocal of their appreciation for KIIS-FM."
D.S. is also on the air on Saturdays 1pm-6pm and Sundays 12p-5pm, and handles the bulk of KIIS-FM's live broadcasts from local places like Knotts, Club Snow at Bear Mountain, Sea World, and the KIIS-FM Beach Shack on the Santa Monica Pier, as well as traveling to Hawaii, Jamaica, Las Vegas, Mexico, and Palm Springs. (it's a rough job)
Aside from radio, Dave also works in his home-studio using producing music for t.v. shows. Most recently, Styles has composed background music for hit tv shows like 'Breaking Bonaduce', 'Shooting Sizemore', and 'Mission: Man Band' on VH-1, 'Wrestling Society X' on MTV, and THS of Britney Spears on E!.
He also hopes to stop sucking when he goes on auditions, so that he can be on tv sometime soon.
