Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz have officially confirmed the news:  "While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. MTV and Wilmer Valderrama are developing a scripted comedy dubbed "Baby Dolls."  Told in faux-documentary style, the show centers on celebrity worship as told through the eyes of a naive and jaded personal assistant to a young actress.  Other MTV shows in the works:  "Teen Dream", a reality competition from 50 Cent that is searching for the next female singing superstar; from Diddy, a rock-themed "Making the Band" spinoff; and "Buzzin" which features Shwayze, his best friend/producer/musical partner Cisco Adler and their friend/tour manager Warren get into comic misadventures as they try to navigate their way to stardom in the music industry.

Usher has teamed with Sony Ericsson to become the face of the mobile phone maker's new Walkman music phone, which will be available later this year.  The campaign will allow music fans access to exclusive content, contests to meet Usher on a video shoot and the chance to win VIP tickets for his North American tour later this year.  Fans will also be able to vote on what other band Usher will go on tour with. In addition, the phone will come loaded with Usher ringtones and full-album downloads.

An 800-word prequel to "Harry Potter", written in author J.K. Rowley's own hand, will be auctioned off for charity in London on June 10th. The story-line is so shrouded in secrecy, it's not even clear if Harry himself makes an appearance.  Proceeds will go to the writers' association English PEN and to Dyslexia Action.

First Death Row Records filed for bankruptcy in 2006, now a judge has ordered that all assets for the record label be auctioned off to the highest bidder on June 24th - which includes the rights to all the recordings of Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.  Minimum starting bid is $24 million.

The Jonas Brothers will release their next album "A Little Bit Longer" on August 12th - with the first single "Burnin' Up."  According to the label, the video for the first track will be an "action-packed James Bond-esque adventure."

Other Jonas Brothers news:  The Disney Book Group will publish a "behind-the-scenes" book all about the 3 brothers which will include never-before-seen photos and commentaries.  The book is expected to be published in the fall.

A Malawi judge has approved Madonna's adoption of David Banda, a Malawian boy she met in an orphanage in 2006.  David turns 3 in November.  She met David while establishing charity projects in Malawi - and is funding her own and six other orphanages in the country.  Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have a son, Rocco, 7, and Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, 11 from a previous relationship.

"American Idol" champ David Cook has officially signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/RCA Records and will begin recording tracks, in between dates on the "American Idols Live tour", for a debut album due this fall.

The Office's Rainn Wilson has signed on to star in Transformers 2 joining original cast members Shia LeBeouf, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel.  The sequel - which begins filming this summer - is slated for a 2009 release.

According to Variety magazine, T.I. has signed a deal with MTV to star in a reality series that will follow him as he performs 1000 hours of community service in advance of a one-year prison term next year.  T.I. pleaded guilty in March to federal weapons charges for attempting to buy 3 machine guns and silencers in a shopping center parking lot just hours bfore he was due to perform at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.  As part of a plea deal, T.I. was ordered to address youth groups about the dangers of guns and gangs, all of which will be captured by video crews.

Britney Spears was spotted recently having dinner with casino owner George Maloof Jr., sparking rumors that there could be an extravagant Las Vegas show in the works.

New Couple Alert? Recent "American Idol" winner David Cook recently went out to dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse in Beverly Hills with Season 2 contestant Kimberly Caldwell.  Cook says they met through the show.

Kirsten Dunst is opening up about her stint at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah earlier this year, saying that she sought help for depression, not for drug or alcohol abuse.  According to Dunst, she decided to speak out because "Now that I'm feeling stronger, I was prepared to say something ... Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about."

In a heart-wrenching post on his MySpace blog, Xzibit announced that his newborn son, Xavier Kingston Joiner, who arrived prematurely on May 15, died early Tuesday morning from lung failure.  Xzibit tells his fans, "Hold on to your kids if you have them, protect them and show them you love them everyday you wake up and see them, don't take a second you get to hug them, teach them and care for them for granted. You can have all the material wealth in the universe but it is NOTHING compared to having your family."  He used the myspace page to thank his fans for all their love and support and adds that he's taking time off to grieve over his loss.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly paid $60 million for a 1000-acre estate in the south of France.  The home, named Chateau Miraval in Bringol near the Aix-en-Provence, has 35 bedrooms, a vineyard, lake, forest and a moat.

Director Sydney Pollack passed away on Monday at his home in Pacific Palisades.  He was 73.  Pollack was diagnosed with cancer about 9 months ago.  He directed many films, including "Out of Africa", "Michael Clayton", "The Way We Were" and "Absence of Malice".  He also acted in films and tv including "Tootsie", "The Fugitive" among others.  He also played Will's father on NBC's "Will & Grace" and most recently appeared in "Made of Honor."  He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, his brother and 6 grandchildren.

Newlyweds Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson arrived in NY Thursday after a Caribbean honeymoon in the Turks and Caicos.  They spent their first night as husband and wife in a safari tent on the property of Simpson's parents Encino home, the location of their wedding, before leaving on their honeymoon.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bow Wow is joining the cast of "Entourage" for season 5 as recurring character Charlie, a new stand-up comic client of E.  He has landed a role opposite Forest Whitaker and Isaiah Washington in the sports drama "Patriots," about a high school basketball team in post-Katrina Louisiana.  According to Bow Wow, after 16 years in the music industry he has decided to "shift my energy to something else I'm passionate about, acting" and that he plans to "try to be the next Will Smith."

A benefit at the Cannes Film Festival late Thursday raised more than $10 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) - a record for the event.  Madonna emptied her purse - auctioning off a magnifying mirror, hair clips, skin blotting tissues, lip gloss and a one-of-a-kind diamond encrusted alligator bag from Chanel - it all sold for $472,000.  Sharon Stone sold her red 1976 vintage Porshe 911 Targa for $786,000.   A fan paid $314,000  to spend the day with Diddy.
