Please pause for a girly moment...

Wednesday, July 11, 2007, 10:55 AM PST [General]

A few weeks ago I was at Mentoring... (Shout out to www.youthmentoring.org!!)

We started our session by one of the kids reading this poem.  It reminded me a lot about why I do music every single day.  I especially love the line about NOT doing music to gain counterfit coins because - a lot of times people get into the entertainment biz for the wrong reasons.  Luckily at KIIS we have a good crew & that's not an issue ;)  Everyone here LOVES music.  So check it -

(That's Maria, my mentee... like I said, got this at mentoring.)

I know the voice of depression

    Still calls to you.

I know those habits that can ruin your life

    Still send their invitations.

But you are with the Friend now

    And look so much stronger.

    You can stay that way

    And even bloom!

Keep squeezing drops of the Sun

From your prayers and work and music

And from your companions' beautiful laughter

Keep squeezing drops of the Sun

From the sacred hands and glance of your Beloved

    And, my dear,

    From the most insignificant movements

    Of your own holy body.

Learn to recognize the counterfeit coins that

May buy you just a moment of pleasure,

But then drag you for days

    Like a broken man

    Behind a farting camel

You are with the Friend now.
Learn what actions of yours delight Him,
what actions of yours bring freedom
    and Love.

Whenever you say God's name, dear pilgrim,
my ears wish my head was missing
so they could finally kiss each other
and applaud all your nourishing wisdom!

So keep squeezing drops of the Sun
from your prayers and work and music
and from your companions' beautiful laughter

And from the most insignificant movements
    of your own holy body.

    Now, sweet one,
    be wise.

    Yoga Is Hard

Monday, July 9, 2007, 01:17 PM PST [General]

They sucker you in by saying yoga is super zen, peaceful, and relaxing, but YOGA IS HARD.

Especially the class I go to at Andrea Marcum's U Studio Yoga.  It's the hardest workouts I've ever done in my life.  Literally I spend the first forty-five minutes of the class trying NOT TO DIE.  Then there's a middle pilates/ab sequence in which I black out.  The last forty-five minutes are spent thanking God the hard part is over.  However, I leave thinking I've conquered the world.

I went yesterday... dude... it was SO HARD.  The only fun part about it was someone left their cell phone on & their ringtone went off to Paula Deanda "Walk Away."  Heehee.  I had a meeting cancel tonight & a girlfriend of mine is going to yoga again.  I have the stuff in the car but it is SO HARD.  I'm on the fence.  Help me beside.  (See poll below.  lol.)

    Keeping it Moving This Weekend

Saturday, June 30, 2007, 09:56 AM PST [General]

Last night.... dropped by Enrique Iglesias's video shoot for "Tired of Being Sorry." it's a song they're going to release internationally. It was originally written and recorded by this cool L.A. band called "ringside" which features Baltazar Getty in the group. Enrique did a mad cool remake.

After that went & saw Michael Moore's "Sicko.' It was pretty depressing and unbelivable. I'll have to cover some issue regarding it, with Boy Toy Jesse, on upcoming Community Council shows. Shout out to Lori (LOL) who rolled with me last night.

Now as I look at the clock the countdown is on.... two hours until we launch for Warped Tour in Ventura. Every year I take some of the homies from A Place Called Home to the concert. It's really just about my favorite thing all year but it's also exhausting. There's like 100 bands on 6 stages going all day. The kids from APCH always want to be in the pit. It makes me feel old. I love it though because I always learn about new bands. They do this really cool thing... where every morning the bands draw set times out of a hat. So - you're favorite band could play at noon or 8PM... you just don't know. It forces you to stay at the festival all day. Although its exhausting I always leave having about five new favorite bands.

This year I'm most excited to see.... Cute is What We Aim For, Paramore, Vincent & Black Shadow, K-oS, and One Be Lo! One Be Lo is my favorite rapper.... he's from Michigan. He's been my favorite rapper for about 6 years. He just moved to Egypt - which seems INSANE. So.... hopefully he won't draw an early set time today and go on before I get there because I don't see myself going to Egypt anytime soon.

A fullllll report coming on Monday - hope you have a good weekend!
