colleges in Orange County are among the nation's top 100 colleges
providing associate degrees, according to an annual report by Community
College Week magazine...Coastline..Orange Coast and Santa Ana colleges
each ranked within the top 100...In all, the trade publication reviewed
about 5 thousand colleges and universities in the U.S. that award
associate degrees...The trade magazine used data from the Integrated
Postsecondary Education Data System, or IPEDS, which is run by the
National Center for Education Statistics, to compile the listings.
Los
Angeles police officials announced that 17 officers and two sergeants
from the department's elite Metropolitan Division should be punished
for roles in last year's May Day melee in MacArthur Park...which left
many people injured...The department's misconduct findings come after
more than a year of investigative work, which included the reviews of
hundreds of hours of video-tapes showing officers swinging batons and
firing foam rubber bullets at journalist and immigrant rights
protesters...The punishment for the officers is confidential at this
point, but the penalties can range from minor official reprimand to
termination.
