THIS WEEK ON THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The Painted Turtle is the sixth addition to Paul Newman's family of Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children. It is also the only multi-disease camp and family care center of its kind on the West Coast. Through educational, therapeutic, safe, and just plain fun summer camp and year-round programs, The Painted Turtle provides a life-changing experience to children whose daily struggles often diminish both their desire to be well and their ability to lead a rich, productive life.

We also spoke with GLAAD (Gays and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation)

At GLAAD, we are in the business of changing people's hearts and minds through what they see in the media. We know that what people watch on TV or read in their newspaper shapes how they view and treat the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people around them. And we have a responsibility to make sure those images foster awareness, understanding and respect.

THIS WEEK ON THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL ITS ALL ABOUT OUR TROOPS!!!

First we talked with Soldiers Angel's : Soldiers' Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. Founded by the mother of two American soldiers, we are an international organization with members in all fifty U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and several friendly countries who support America's men and women in uniform.  We were incorporated in the state of Nevada in June of 2003.

We also spoke with Julie Pilat from our station and she actually adopted a soldier a couple of years ago and shared her experience with us!!!

Next we spoke with the USO!!! The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform. The original intent of Congress - and enduring style of USO delivery - is to represent the American people by extending a touch of home to the military. The USO currently operates more than 130 centers worldwide, including ten mobile canteens located in the continental United States and overseas.

So say Thanks to our troops this weekend and have a safe one!!! Till Next time!!!
