The Staff Christmas Party at Ryan's House!
What A Weekend!
Ilove good weekends! Michael flew in on Thursday and we had so much fun together! On Thursday night, I picked him up from the Long Beach airport and I dragged him to Lakewood mall so I can sneak into Target and buy some black tights. He wasn't happy with the mall idea because he was hungry, so we compromised and had dinner at CPK inside the mall before walking to Target. We had a good pizza, by the way, goat cheese with yellow and red peppers and eggplant pizza! Delicioso!! Best pizza I've had I think. On Friday we headed out to Daimon's sushi in Huntington Beach for my girlfriend's birthday. I've never been there before and it was pretty interesting...the chefs dance with you and start doing some crazy moves while cooking infront you. Its a small restaurant with a sort of like club feel to it!
And Saturday...the big party- our Christmas party at casa de Seacrest. So the time for arrival wasat 7pm. Natalie, Michael, my good friend Eduardo Verastegui and I got there at 9pm after getting lost trying to find his house. We weren't driving, we had a car and completely weren't paying attention when we realized we were lost. It was just too funny! By the time we got there, EVERYONE was already there, including Santa! Santa was at the bar getting his drink on!! LOL. We had such a great time. The whole night Ryan was poking fun at Eduardo for his infamous quote "There is a time in everyone's life..." It was so great, I was sooo glad I was spending time with Michael.
I forgot my camera, but I took Natalie's hostage and took a zillion pics. I have to wait till she uploads them all so I can post them. But here is one of my faves...the guys, Eduardo, Sadao, Michael and Ryan having a VERY VERY deep conversation...
Mi Burrito Sabanero
This song makes me soooo happy! I just love it! "Mi Burrito Sabanero" has to be my favorite Christmas song ever!!! I just love singing it, it makes me so happy and giddy!
Tuki, tuki, tuki, tuki....
This morning I was singing and playing it out around Negative Natalie and after 15 minutes she was humming it! LOL.
The song reminds me so much of when I was younger, mi madresita used to play it us when we were younger. It is just an amazing, beautiful feeling to hear this song every year.
Tuki, tuki, tuki, tuki...
Could It Be? American Soccer's Greatest Love Story
From Yahoo! Sports:
By Martin Rogers
MLS coach of the year Preki doesn't come across as the most sentimental or romantic of men, but he could be ready to pave the way for American soccer's greatest love story.
Earlier this year, Yahoo! Sports played our part in trying to smooth the path of love between California Victory's Bay Area-based midfielder Mike Munoz and his L.A. girlfriend Patty Rodriguez.
Patty started an online petition to try to get Chivas to notice her man so he could return to SoCal and they could be together.
Now, Munoz is set to get his chance at an MLS contract when he tries out with the Red and Whites (Chivas USA) later this year.
As part of the deal, Patty had to join the Chivagirls - the club's cheerleaders - for Chivas' conference semifinal second leg against the Kansas City Wizards.
Reading Is Fun!
About a year ago, Michael's mom gave me this book called Chicana Falsa : And Other Stories of Death, Identity, & Oxnard by Michele Serros. I read the whole book on the plane on my way to Guadalajara, MX to visit Michael (he was down there training with the Chivas Del Guadalajara). I enjoyed the book and of course related to a few things here and there.
Anyway, this past weekend, as I was organizing my room; throwing away a few things, I saw the book sandwiched between 2 other books. I started reading it again and somehow I got a little emotional. For some reason, this time around I really felt affected by it. I decided to go online and find a little more about Michele. I wanted to know who she was and what she was all about. I found her website and decided to e-mail her. I wanted to let her know the book was quite inspiring to me, a little Mexican girl trying to live the dream. And guess what she did??? She replied to me:
Thank you for your kind note! It made my weekend...through all the holiday craziness.
If you're in the area...I'm having a pachanga for my new book!
And as simple as that she invited me to her book signing on Dec 9th in Pico Rivera. I replied to her and said "Claro que si! Ill be there!"
I'm excited! Her book, though is small, it is full of life and color just like our cultura. Soooooo, if you are in the area why not come down and check what Michele is all about. I can assure you will be impressed as much as I am.
