Today's Topic: "Do you lose your friend after they get married?"

So last night one of my good college friends called me kind of upset... I asked her what was wrong and she said ever since her friend Jillian got married, they don't hang out anymore and it's almost as if she is shutting her out of her life on purpose.  Unless if there is more to this story that I don't know about, I couldn't see how someone who has been your friend for over 15 years can just shut you out.

So I'm curious, do you lose your friends after they get married?  I consider myself still pretty young.  At 24, I don't have many friends who are married.  My sister who is in her early 30s does and I remember her telling me that it's not that you lose a friend.... It's just that things well... change.

So I told my friend, "listen it's not that Jillian doesn't want to ever be friends with you again, its just that she is starting a new chapter in her life that maybe she thinks you can't relate to because you are single."  I think in a situation like this, it's best to give your friend space and time with her new hubby but also explain to her exactly how you feel.  Communication is KEY in either a romantic relationship or a friendship.  Tell her you want to plan a girl's day... It could be something as fun as going to the spa, getting your nails done, or even as simple as coming over to her house and helping her go through and organize her wedding pictures.  It's important to express that you still can be a part of her life even though she's not taking patron shots with you on the weekends anymore.  Have a great Wednesday.

    Xoxo,

    Sisanie
