Madonna and Guy Ritchie Split

Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie are ending their almost-eight-year marriage, a rep for the singer confirmed Wednesday.

"Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time."

The statement, which was co-signed by Ritchie's representative, also said that the couple had not agreed to a settlement.

Britney Spears Goes on Trial for Traffic Offense

After more than a year of legal bickering, Britney Spears goes on trial Wednesday in a Van Nuys, Calif., court on a charge of driving without a license.

The pop star, who faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, is not required to attend because it's only a misdemeanor case.

Barring any last-minute legal moves, the trial will begin with jury selection and is expected to last several days.
